Things are moving quickly this week! Last week a bobcat came back and filled in the dirt around the crawl space walls, in addition to hauling away most of the rest of the dirt that had been piled in the back yard. There wasn’t much else that happened last week on account of the crawlspace walls needed time to cure, and we asked that there not be any work going on while our family was visiting from out of town at the end of the week.
Tuesday things picked back up again! The floor went in above the crawl space, the door to the garage was taken out, and a wall was put up on the back of the room.
Wednesday there was a lot of work done on the roof. They tore off sections of the old roof and took out some beams, which made for a very loud morning. So I took the kids to the mall, and it was much quieter there.
Today was the loudest day yet--the worst part being in the afternoon when two of the kids were trying to take naps. Somehow Ashlyn managed to sleep through it all, though I have no idea how. Josiah wasn't so lucky. It sounded as thought a war was going on outside. Big things were being dropped on the roof and shaking the house, and there was constant loud hammering and some other sort of thing that sounded like a machine gun going off. But today they finished building the roof--they covered the beams, tar-papered and shingled it all in one day! They also put up the other outside wall and covered all the walls. So now our room has 4 walls and actually kind of looks like a room. Yea!
I don't have any pictures of today's work to show--we usually take the pictures after the workers leave, but they're still here and it's dark now! (And it's bedtime!) So maybe in the morning if it's not raining. It's really quite impressive all they got done in just one day.
