This week, we took an evening and went to the hot air balloon festival down in Indianola. It was a perfect summer evening, without a cloud in the sky. However, since it was still slightly windy when we arrived, the balloons were not able to launch yet or fly. So we let the girls play on a couple of the inflatable rides. They had the bounce house all to themselves, which meant they got an extra long turn. Once the wind settled down, the balloons started coming and going. Some launched at farther out sites and flew to the field of spectators. Others launched from the spectator field, giving everyone a view of what it takes to get a balloon in the air. After watching a few balloons take off and land, we spotted some friends of ours in the large crowd. Emma was elated to have found her friend, Sam, and to get to freely run around the field with him. Ashlyn also enjoyed dancing to the music of the live band, running around in the field, trying to keep up with Emma and Sam, and occasionally pausing to watch a big balloon drift overhead. It was a fun way to spend a summer evening, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's never gone.

This is the first summer we haven't gone! Just too busy this year, but we usually make it a point to go. Looks like you had fun, love the picture collage.
