The reunion began Friday evening. And while we arrived in time to take part in Friday’s festivities, we deviated from the masses, and made a few of our own plans instead. After we arrived in Omaha and got all set up at our hotel, we went out to meet some good friends that we hadn't seen for a while. We got together with Scott and Lisa and their kids at the Farm House Café, which had lots of good food, and plenty of noise so our children would blend right in. Emma had so much fun playing and being goofy with Kenton and Grace, that I’m surprised she got any food in her mouth. Ashlyn was surprisingly good, and only tried to climb out of her chair 2 or 3 times the whole time we were there.
After dinner, everyone came back to our hotel and got geared up for swimming. The hotel pool was outside, but it had been one of those unusually warm summer days (unusual for this year, anyway) so it was perfect for swimming outside. The kids outlasted everyone else and were the last ones out of the water. Needless to say, bedtime was a little later than usual that night, but we called it a “vacation” and tried not to worry about it.
While out at the pool, our friends spotted this posting of pool rules. They thought rule #1 was hilarious and wanted to know who was in charge of checking to make sure all guest were in compliance. Hmmm… not sure that I would be applying for that job, even during this recession.
