...and Doctor!

We've had a couple of doctor appointments lately, which I thought might be worth noting. Last Tuesday, Ashlyn went in for her 15 month check up. She has finally separated herself from her nearly identical grown pattern with Emma. At the check up, Ashlyn was 24.1 pounds and 32 inches long. That's two pounds heavier and half an inch shorter than Emma was at the same age. Two pounds doesn't sound like a lot, but when you're that little to start with, it's noteworthy.

Two days later, Emma had her turn at the doctor. We took her to see the allergist, presuming she had developed a new allergy to dogs. (The big, itchy hives gave it away.) We also wanted to have Emma tested again for her peanut allergy, to see if it had changed since she was diagnosed at age 2. The allergist had said to have her retested at age 4 or 5, so now seemed like a good time. So, first they did a scratch test on her back to test for animals and seasonal things. Dogs got a HUGE reaction, followed closely by cats, and then grasses and some other spring and fall allergy triggers.

Next, they drew some blood to test for the peanut allergy. Since she was only a 1 on a 0-5 scale when they tested her a few years ago, we were hoping she would be in the 15-20% who outgrow it early on. However, the results came back today, and they were not what we were hoping for. She's gone up to a 2.78 now. But the nurse said it can still change, and we should continue to have her tested each year. I don't know that Emma would be in favor of having blood drawn like that every year, though, so we'll see. Emma was pretty disappointed (as were the rest of us) when we heard the news. She had really gotten her hopes up that she would be free of this allergy now. But since it could still happen, we'll try to remain optimistic that she will eventually outgrow it.

Okay, now I am certain that Marissa was measured wrong at her 2year check up cause she is way more than an inch and a half taller than Ashlyn don't you think??
