Our Growing Baby

Ashlyn went to the doctor for her 6 month check up yesterday. She is doing all she can to keep up with where Emma was at her age, and she's not too far off. She is 19 lbs 2.5 oz, and 27.75 in long. (Above the 95th percentile) I think she knew this appointment was coming up, and tried to pack it on to impress the doctor. About a week and a half ago, she started hibernating--sleeping day and night, only waking up when Mom or Dad made her, and eating everything in sight when she was awake. It paid off. She's impressively large. (We think so anyway.) Before we went to the doctor's office, we discussed the girls getting flu shots. I would prefer they get the preservative-free flu shots, but their office hasn't gotten those in yet. (FYI, the flu shot is the only shot that still contains thimerosal and mercury, among other really fun preservatives.) Emma could have the flu mist vaccine this year, which is a nose spray instead of a shot, and it doesn't have the preservatives in it. But would you believe that she actually said she wanted the shot instead?? She said she wanted the shot because she likes shots, and she wanted to show Ashlyn how to be brave for shots. This "brave" 3 year old is the same one who cries when I try to put hand sanitizer on her hands. In the end, we opted to wait until next month for the flu vaccines, in hopes that they'll get the preservative-free ones in by then. And we also didn't think we needed to add to poor Ashlyn's grief with all the shots she had to get anyway. Before we left, Emma asked why she didn't get to have any shots. She was genuinely disappointed that she didn't get to have one. Should I call Ripley's??

She's almost caught up to Marissa! Maybe just a little more hibernating... ;) Love the new background!
