Baby it's Cold Outside!!!

I wish Santa could have packed some warm weather into his sleigh and brought that for Christmas! But instead, we have lots of snow and arctic air. Earlier this fall, predictions were made about this winter (by the professionals, not by me). The expectation was that we would have a mild winter in terms of temperature and snowfall. Sounded good! But I'm thinking the prediction may have been a wee bit off--Des Moines set a new record for snowfall total for the month of December! And have I mentioned this arctic air?

Anywho, several family members have asked to see pictures of our frozen tundra landscape, and I aim to please. So here are a few pictures from throughout the month. Yes it's pretty, but to truly appreciate its beauty, it would be best if it would only make occasional appearances. You know, tease us a little!

This was during a calm spot in the blizzard.

This was a nice snow drift the blizzard left on our upstairs deck.

This is what we woke up to in our backyard the morning after Christmas. Ice and snow are twinkly and pretty on the trees, but not on the roads!

One more shot of our back yard after Christmas.
