We traveled to visit my family in Chicago. Thanksgiving day was quite nice outside. So we walked from my mom's to my sister's house, where the kids all played for a while and Josiah tested out Nathan's bed. (Do you think Josiah could smile any harder in the picture with the horse?)
After playing for a while inside, we walked a few more blocks to the park and spent time playing there.
Then we headed back to my mom's in time for lunch. After lunch the real meal prep began! The girls handled the kitchen, while Dakota handled the kids. At dinner, Emma enjoyed her traditional turkey leg. I'll probably never understand what exactly she likes about that.
After dinner was cleaned up, we called Thanksgiving over, and jumped right into Christmas! Josiah and Nathan got dressed up in their holiday attire. (Josiah looks a bit unkempt due to his pre-photo wrestling match with the couch. He was a bit wound up.) The kids were so happy to finally be able to open the presents under the tree!
The next day, brave Aunt Jess let Emma and Ashlyn decorate her face. They thought that was just about the best thing ever!
Later that day, we played several rounds of group Solitaire. It's a family thing.
And finally, before leaving on the final morning, we got the kids all together to take some pictures. Herding cats--that's what it's like trying to get four kids to all look in the same direction and smile at the same time! Oy!
So, a belated happy Thanksgiving to you all! Bring on the Christmas!
