Day 1--Unplanned

We intentionally planned very little for our first day. We slept in as much as the kids would let us, and then headed downstairs for breakfast. Later in the morning we did a little grocery shopping and made lunch in our room. After that, we all took much-needed afternoon naps.

We played in the hotel pool after naps. The water felt great, and the kids loved it. Emma bought a new snorkel and mask set with some of her birthday money, and she had a great time trying it out.

We saw lots of these little lizard things all over the pool area. Good thing for them they're very quick, otherwise, Emma would have caught them and made pets out of every one she saw.

After swimming, we made dinner in our room. Since it was raining after dinner, and we couldn't go out walking to find desert, Dakota went out and got some ice cream for us. And that’s about all there was to day 1.

*Funny side note: most people go on vacation and buy souvenirs to take home. But not Dakota. He goes on vacation and buys grocery items to take home. I think the only “souvenirs” he bought for himself the whole trip were a bottle of salad dressing and a bottle of special soap.
