Thank Goodness It's Monday!

We felt like we were running non-stop this past weekend. It was all good, just very busy.

Saturday morning Emma had dress rehearsal for her ballet recital, which is next weekend. She was pretty much in awe when she saw the theater where her recital would take place. And she loved getting up on stage to practice her dance. No butterflies in her stomach or anything. Let's hope the real performance goes just as well next weekend.

And since we were downtown for this dress rehearsal, we decided afterwards, why not go fishing! Because the next thing you want to do when you're all dressed up like a pretty ballerina with hair and make-up, is go fishing, right?! But the big Hy-Vee fishing derby was going on a short ways away from the theater, so we headed over there to see if there would be any fish left to catch. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, the fish were feeling pretty fat and sleepy. Ashlyn didn't mind, though. She loved learning how to reel in the line... again, and again and again...

Emma did manage to catch a pretty good sized catfish, but it wasn't one of the tagged ones that would have won her a prize. Oh well. It was still fun. Maybe we'll try again next year if we can get out there right when it starts.

Later that afternoon, Dakota and I got away for a few hours, while the girls were entertained by their favorite babysitter. (I don't think they missed us even a little bit.)

Then Sunday rolled around and was just as busy. Dakota played with the worship band at church all morning. Then I spent a good chunk of the afternoon getting flowers ready to take to the nursing home. We like to try to take something with us each month for the girls to hand out. This month we were able to get a couple buckets of discarded flowers from Hy-Vee. When the flowers reach their sell-by date, the stores usually just throw them away, even if they still have several days of life in them. So I spent the afternoon cutting and cleaning them up. The girls had fun handing them out, and the ladies at the nursing home really enjoyed getting some flowers from two cute little girls.

It was nice to have Monday come, not because I love Mondays so much or anything, but just because it wasn't so jam packed with stuff going on all day. Never really thought I'd say it, but thank goodness it's Monday.
