Finally Five!

We joked with Ashlyn for a long time about not letting her turn five when her birthday came.  We told her we wanted her to stay our little girl forever, and we were going to make her stay 4 when it was her birthday.  So when her birthday finally rolled around, I don't think she was quite sure if we were serious or not.  So we told her we decided she could turn 5 if she wanted to, which she was very glad about.

Over the weekend we celebrated with my family, who came for a visit.  (More about that in a future post.)  Then after the family left, it was time to have her friends over.  Four little girls came over for dinner.  After eating, Ashlyn opened her presents, and the girls dressed the stuffed animals they brought.  They got their bears, moose, dogs and foxes all decked out in cool, summery beach wear.

Then they had cake.  Ashlyn's request this year was strawberry shortcake.
After that, they had a little bit of play time before parents came to take the girls home.  The party went quickly, and everyone wanted to stay and play longer.  Except for the birthday girl's mom and dad--we were ready to go to bed!

So happy birthday to our little dreamer!  May you have many more 5th birthdays and forever stay our little girl!  ; )
