Ashlyn woke up with a REALLY red face that morning. Dakota had put some aloe on her cheeks and nose the night before, to help with the sunburn she had gotten our first day there. But it turns out Ashlyn’s skin doesn’t like aloe so much, or maybe it was just that brand. But the poor girl spent the day with a plump, red tomato face. Fortunately, she didn’t seem to be bothered by it at all.
Anyway, on day 4, we headed for Epcot.
The first thing we did was get in line to meet and get pictures with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy. While the girls and I waited in line, Dakota ran off to the ride, Soarin’, to get some fast passes for later.
After the characters, we went on a Finding Nemo ride, and talked with Cush the turtle. The talking turtle was pretty neat. He was on a wall-sized screen, made to look like an aquarium tank. He swam up to the front of the screen and asked questions and talked to the kids in the front of the room. Dakota and I were pretty impressed with the technology that let the animation interact so effortlessly with the people in the room.
After that, we went over to Soarin’. It’s a huge ride that uses a 180 degree curved screen to simulate the feeling of flying. However, since Ashlyn was too small, and I was not interested in a case of motion sickness, I left the flying to Dakota and Emma. They both loved it. Dakota said it was his favorite ride of all the parks.
Once Dakota and Emma got their feet on solid ground again, we headed for the international pavilions. Emma didn’t quite understand that each pavilion was just a representation of each country. She asked a couple times, “Are we really in (insert name of country)?”

China had a pretty impressive children’s acrobatic act. Though, Ashlyn chose that time for her power nap.
Japan had a candy maker that was pretty neat. She used rice candy, which looked a lot like taffy, to make any kind of animal you could think of. Emma asked her if she could make a fish like Nemo, and she did.
Before leaving, we hit a few more rides, including Spaceship Earth, or “the big ball,” as Ashlyn called it.
