When we got home, the girls had a late nap. And when they woke up, we went out to Hy-Vee for a dinner buffet. The girls got to stay up a little later than normal, but not too late. Dakota and I popped in a movie, and tried to make it to midnight. We were close. I think I fell asleep at about 11:45. Good enough for me! And, as is the proper way to welcome in a new year, we all slept in quite late in the morning! May it be a good year!

Happy New Year!
For New Year's Eve (afternoon) we went to a big party in downtown Des Moines. It was a free kid's party sponsored by one of the businesses in Des Moines. And lucky for us, Emma's school, ICA, happens to be a business partner with that particular company. All employees, family of employees, and families of business partners were invited to start the party a couple hours early (before the general public was allowed in). Emma was in kid nirvana. They had tons of bounce houses, obstacle courses, scooters, games, clowns, spin-art painting, and different dance schools performing on a stage. It was great, being able to get in so early--there were hardly any lines and no waiting for any bounce houses. Even Ashlyn seemed to think it was fun being there. Even though there wasn't really anything for her to do but ride on dad's shoulders and crawl around on some mats they had on the floor, she laughed and smiled, watching her big sister have fun.
