I wanted to share a story about using our essential oils over the weekend. Many people know the oils are great for health issues, but they are ALSO great
for cleaning! Over the weekend Dakota was tackling the much dreaded
chore of scrubbing the shower and grout. He's done this for years, using
all sorts of nasty, harsh chemicals and cleaners. Well, this time I
mixed up my own concoction--a paste using my YL lemon oil. Later that day he told me it
was the best thing he's ever used! It cleaned everything in record
time, and with no toxic chemicals and dizzying fumes! Love my oils!If you're interested, here's the recipe I came up with...
1/3 cup baking soda
10 drops YL lemon oil
Enough Castile soap to make it into a paste
Mix them together in a glass container. (Glass is important, since citrus oils can eat through plastic or cause some of the chemicals in the plastic to leach into your mixture.) To use, just apply the paste with a sponge or cloth, rub and rinse! Store any left over paste in a glass container. If it begins to harden, add a small amount of water to bring it back to a paste-like consistency.
*Use caution with softer surfaces that may be scratched by the baking soda's abrasiveness. If you're not sure, it's best to test the paste on a small area that's not as easily seen first.
