Our celebration on tax day actually has nothing to do with taxes, and everything to do with this little tax deduction--I mean this little beauty!
Over the weekend, we gathered with family and friends to celebrate both Ashlyn's and Josiah's birthdays. (They're only 6 days apart.) We rented our church's new community center building, which had plenty of room for all the kids to run around.
In the big gym we had some beach volleyball and basketball going on.
We also had hula hoops and jump ropes.
Josiah and some of the younger kids had fun climbing around the indoor playground!
And we had some crafts going on in the cafe area.
Ashlyn and Josiah shared a delicious chocolate caterpillar birthday cake!
After the party we headed back home with anyone who wanted to claim to be related to us. Dakota and I made a big dinner, while the kids and other family members played on the swing set out back.
The day flew by in a flash, and before we knew it, most of us were crashed in front of the TV watching Frozen for the second time in two days.
(Speaking of a flash, that's also how quickly our weather changed over the weekend. Saturday was in the 80's, Sunday brought a solid day of thunder storms and rain showers, and Monday morning we woke up to snow and below freezing temperatures! Spring is having an identity crisis!)
Tuesday was Ashlyn's actual birthday, which started with a few presents and a minimal amount of school work. In the evening she got to go to one of her favorite stores, Build-A-Bear, where she spent some of her birthday money on a new car for her stuffed animals to drive around in. She said most of her stuffed animals know how to drive already, but someone needs to teach the penguin how to drive.
Over the weekend we'll celebrate Easter, and then one more birthday before all's said and done!
