Shortly after arriving, we spotted this cute mini pumpkin. We thought surely he was worth more than $.70. So we snatched him up quick before anyone else had the chance.
Next we came upon these two matching princesses. They said we should take them along with us because they had magical powers. When we asked what kinds of powers they had, they told us.
The little one could ride stationary cows like nobody's business. When we told her we struggled to see how this could help us on our quest for cute pumpkins, she offered another power...
...the power to climb up tall stacks of hay and take a flying leap off! Strangely, we learned that this power of hers only worked if someone was standing nearby to catch her. She tried it once on her own and it didn't go over so well. But that's a story for another time.
Not to be outdone by the little one, the big one also showed off her ability to scale tall haystacks and leap off in a single bound! (Never mind that the first jump resulted in a bitten tongue and tears. Her powers just needed to warm up a bit.)
Though we had our hands full with the mini pumpkin, we told the matching princesses they could come along on our adventures for the day too. They squealed with delight.
As our feisty five-some took in the beautiful fall scenery, suddenly a mass of goats descended upon us! (Or maybe we descended upon them... I don't really remember.) While the mini pumpkin was ready for action and wanted to grab the goats to ruff them up a bit, the matching princesses had a different idea. The bigger princess revealed another magical power--her pocket of endless quarters! With her magical pocket, they were able to subdue the goats with goat food--lots and lots of goat food.
After our short companions tamed the wild goats, we were able to once again wander around the grounds enjoying our day.
During our wanderings came upon the plank with wheels, and thought it might be useful in carrying all the cute pumpkins we were searching for. But Dakota and the princesses had different ideas about how to get it to move. They went back and forth for a while about how to use it, but after a while of not getting very far, they abandoned it for other modes of transportation--like bumpy slides and tire-swing horses.
At the end of the day, we didn't have very many pumpkins, but we did have the cute mini pumpkin and the two matching princesses. They were pretty cute, and we did have a fun fall day, so we took them home and considered our quest a success!
And we all lived happily ever after. The end. :)
PS. For anyone concerned that we may have deprived our three short companions of pumpkins that day, rest assured we did not. Everyone left with a pumpkin in proportion to his or her size, along with three tiny green gourd things. I'm not really sure what they're for, or why we bought them. I guess we're just suckers for things that are cute and mini.

Dakota and I have actually written a number of stories for our girls and self-published them. That way the girls will be able to hold on to them and maybe even share them with their kids someday. :)
