First, the cute kid...
Josiah made a new friend (in the mirror).
He practiced looking cute.
And he also showed us he is a boy on the move! Two things to notice about this picture. 1. I laid him down on his play mat with his head on the giraffe's neck and his feet on the elephant's flowers. But the picture shows where I found him when I came back. 2. The picture also seems to show what his motivation was in moving off of the play mat. Isn't 2 and 1/2 months old a little early to be chasing after pretty girls???
Now for the wet kids...
We hosted swim lessons for us and several friends each day this week. I was worried that we would get rained out, with rain in the forecast for 4 out of 5 days. But it was really only a problem one day when the kids had to stay out of the pool for about a half hour while a storm passed. They didn't mind, though. They were all in swimsuits anyway, and they got to dance around in the rain--something they don't often get to do.
Ashlyn was happy to get to have lessons this year. She loved getting in the water each morning, even though she didn't always love being told what to do once she was in the water.
Ashlyn and Marissa had fun playing on the deck while their older sisters had a lesson together in the pool.
Emma really impressed us again this year with all she learned! She figured out the front crawl (with side breathing) and was able to swim the length of the pool by herself. She even got over her fear of jumping into the deep end! (graceful, hua?)
Synchronized swimming! No, not really. :) The girls were learning the arm moves for the back stroke, which Emma also did well at.
And finally, diving. She learned how to dive in, from a kneeling position and from standing.
I can't believe how much she picked up in just one week! She can't wait to get in the pool this weekend to show Dakota how much she learned!
