More New Tricks!

As if all the traveling and family visiting wasn’t enough this past week, Ashlyn has been busy learning some impressive new tricks. At 7 and ½ months, she can now pull up on people and furniture, and is starting to try to take a few steps to cruise the furniture on her own. Also, I would now consider her to be a crawler. Last night we put up our Christmas tree, and wouldn’t you know, it was just too much temptation for her. So she decide to learn how to crawl (in a hurry) so she could get at all the goods. Big sister, Emma, has been playing the roll of guard dog today, and not letting Ashlyn near the tree. Maybe this new exercise will help Ashlyn burn some of that baby chub. The chub is cute, don't get me wrong, but I tried her Christmas dress on her yesterday, and it was a real stretch to get the buttons together in the back! (It looks like the buttons might pop off if she moves too much--and it's a 12 month size dress!) Good thing Christmas pictures are tomorrow and not later in the month. I hope she'll still fit into the dress, come Christmas.

Oh, and if standing and crawling are not enough for one week, she also cut her first tooth today. We thought she was working on that—she’s been chewing on everything lately. But she hasn’t been nearly as fussy as we expected or drooled even a fraction of the amount that Emma did when she was cutting teeth.
