I forgot to post about last Friday. Emma got to try out gymnastics for the first time, and she really liked it. We weren't going to sign her up for regular classes just yet, but there's a gym close to us that has a program called "lunch bunch." One Friday, every other month, they have a 2 hour class where kids come in, learn about and play on the different equipment, eat their lunch, make a craft, and dance in the dance room. It's a very action-packed 2 hours, and not surprisingly, Emma didn't want to leave when I came to pick her up. She said her favorite things were jumping on the trampoline and playing in the foam pit. She got to do some tumbling and walk on the balance beam too. After lunch, the kids made some paper turkeys, and then played in the dance room with pom poms and musical instruments. Emma had a great time; it's just too bad they only do lunch bunch once, every other month.

Now, onto Ashlyn... She has been learning some new tricks lately, and is on the verge of crawling. A week or two ago she figured out how to sit herself up without any help. Now she uses that skill to move and scoot herself around when she wants to get somewhere. (Or sometimes she just ends up scooting in circles, and gets frustrated b/c she can't get over to something she wants.) Also, Dakota and Emma said they saw her crawl a little bit this weekend. So far, I've only seen her scoot herself backwards, but soon she'll probably be racing around all over the place. Ashlyn is very excited about her new skills, and wants to do them ALL the time--including at nap time. It's become quite difficult to get her to settle down for naps lately, since all she wants to do in her crib is sit up and play. And just this morning I saw her do what I suspected she's been doing lately--she pulled herself up to standing in her crib. So many new tricks, and so little time in the day. Naps will have to wait!

One more thing. The girls got their flu shots today. Emma has actually been looking forward to this, and when given the choice between the flu mist nasal spray and the shot, she picked the shot every time. She said she wanted to get her shot first, so she could show Ashlyn how to be brave. Unfortunately, she said the shot pinched more than she thought it would. She kept her brave face on in the doctor's office, but later at home, she said it hurt and she doesn't want anymore shots. Ashlyn didn't like hers either, but she only cried a little bit, and now has probably forgotten all about it.
