This game is something I picked up at a consignment sale a year or two ago. The mystery game came with character cards and scripts for a play that the girls read through.
During the play, the scripts instructed them to look for clues or decode secret messages.
At one point the script called for one of the characters to hide under the table!
After the girls solved the mystery, they opened gifts and had some birthday treats. This year Emma asked me to make edible cookie bowls, which were then filled with a scoop of ice cream.
The girls also had time to play with the dolls they brought, and to do a few crafts--decorating crowns for their dolls and making tissue paper corsages. A couple girls even made rubber band bracelets for their dolls.
The girls had a fun time, and Emma said she felt like the party only lasted for about 5 minutes. I guess that's the mark of a good party!
Tonight to celebrate her birthday, we went out to Cracker Barrel (birthday girl's request). They gave her a free ice cream sundae for her birthday, which she generously shared with her brother and sister.
She said it was her best birthday ever, which I think is what she says every year. :)
