Then Monday morning looked like this...
The kids and I went for a walk in the woods, because that seemed like the thing to do on a slightly eery, gray, chilly and very foggy day.
Then we got rain. And not just rain, but thunderstorms. In January. In Iowa!
Then, just to keep things interesting, we got hit with a mini blizzard on Wednesday. It cancelled schools and cancelled our plans to get out to burn some energy and kick these winter blues. Not sure how many inches of snow we got (the 30mph winds made it kind of hard to get an accurate measurement) but it was a decent amount.
Fortunately we were able to reschedule yesterday's outing (a home school morning at the gym) for this morning. But today wasn't without its own weather issues. Namely the single-digit temperatures. Tonight's low is supposed to be -2, and that's not taking into account a wind chill.
I know we haven't gotten through the whole week yet, but today feels so much like Friday to me, that we're just going to call it a week.
The weather over the weekend is supposed to redeem itself. But we'll have to wait and see if it lives up to expectations.
If you're wondering if life is so dull that there's been nothing more interesting than weather happening this week, I've got two words for you: Cabin Fever. We try to mix it up a bit and keep life interesting, but it doesn't take more than a couple days of winter weather to make me feel like I've been stuck inside for weeks.
Oh, Spring! Where are you??!!
