Wednesday night, Ashlyn had her first night of Cubbies. (The AWANAS class at church for 3-4 year olds.) She had been waiting for this night for two years, and was beside herself with excitement when it finally arrived. Though, the night did end with a few tears, because she had her heart set on bringing Cubby Bear home, but it wasn't her week to get to do that. Another time...
The next night, Josiah had his first taste of an apple. He sits at the table in his high chair with us for dinner (if he's not sleeping), and he just watches us with this look that says, "Why don't I get to taste anything?" So after cutting apple slices, I decided it probably wouldn't hurt anything to let him lick on the apple core. To my surprise, it took a bit of work to convince him that he could and should give it a lick. He wasn't too sure at first, but eventually decided he liked licking it.
And continuing on the theme of first foods, the girls had their first smores Saturday night. We went to a cook out at a friend's house and they brought out the makings for smores after dinner. The girls both agreed, it was a treat we need to repeat!
The cook out was fun, but a little too much for one little boy. After grabbing a fistful of my hair, he promptly passed out on my shoulder. It was time to call it a night.
There were other firsts, like the hula-hooping class the girls took at the library. Emma learned some new tricks, and Ashlyn figured out how to get the hula-hoop to go around at least 3 times before falling to the ground. They both came home happy, and with new hula-hoops.
More first to come this week, as Emma gives volleyball club a try tomorrow!
