Saturday we celebrated with family, and Tuesday we celebrated with some of Ashlyn's friends. Tonight we'll do a small celebration with just our family, and tomorrow she is going to an Easter party at the gymnastics school, where I've been told they'll have a little birthday celebration for her too.
Saturday's family party included an ice cream cake, since she has made it very clear that the only thing regular cake is good for is the frosting. She would have been happy with us all having big globs of frosting for her birthday treat, but I thought ice cream sounded more appetizing. (Thanks to my college roommate, Lori, for the very yummy recipe!)
Saturday was also an exceptionally warm day, which made it that much easier for her to enjoy Grandma and Grandpa's present--a medium sized trampoline for the back yard. While trying it out, she told me that she wanted to jump on it for 10 hours. And I believe she would have tried to do just that if we hadn't made her take turns with Emma and her cousin, Noah.
A few days later, it was time for a party with friends. For several months she has told us she wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese and do gymnastics for her birthday. Not do gymnastics at Chuck E. Cheese, but go to C.E.C. and also go to the gymnastics school to play there. It looked like that would work out, since we could take her to C.E.C. with some friends during the week, and the gymnastics school was scheduled to have a Lunch Bunch group on her actual birthday. Unfortunately Lunch Bunch fell through, but the school is having an Easter party tomorrow, so she can go to that instead.
Chuck E. Cheese was fun, with three other families joining us. The trick to having a party there is to do it on a week day--we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The kids had some pizza and cake and then ran around doing rides and games.

Only when you're a kid do you want your birthday to last a whole week or longer! Enjoy it babe!
