Everlasting Gobstopper Sponge Balls

Summer is here! And my girls want to play outside--with water--a lot. I saw these sponge balls being made on PBS and thought they looked like a fun and easy thing to do. They weren't that hard to make and my girls are having fun playing with them, so I thought I'd share the steps.

Step 1: Gather some sponges and a pair of scissors.

Step 2: Cut the sponges, long ways, into 4 strips.

Step 3: Mix and match different colors.

Step 4: Organize them into a neat stack, and get a zip-lock tie. Wrap the tie around the sponges. Insert one end into the locking end and pull--hard.

Step 5: Snip the end of the zip-lock tie close to the locking end. (Don't they kind of look like those Everlasting Gobstoppers from Willy Wonka?)

Step 6: Go outside and play with them!
