These three had their fill of fall fun over the last week! Our church had a great pumpkin party with plenty of games and inflatables for the kids.
And Emma got to test her magician skills. She made this ice cream disappear!
Then there were the animals! Our church had a small petting zoo set up, and another church party we went to had, um, some less furry animals.
The second church had some super cool characters, too!
And Emma practiced her magic skills with the rope trick.
Ashlyn took a little break after the parties to read a good book. She decided way back in Februrary that she wanted to be a polar bear for Halloween. It was quite the random idea at the time, but the week after she told me, I found that polar bear hat on clearance the grocery store for $1! So, it was meant to be!
Then last weekend, we went to a pumpkin carving party at a friend's house. Josiah, who is rather obsessed with letters right now, insisted that his name be carved into his pumpkin. Ashlyn designed a happy pumpkin, and Emma and I worked on pulling a rabbit out of a pumpkin. Our magical creation won first place!
Of course after all that, there was still trick-or-treating on Beggar's Night. Between all the pumpkin parties and trick-or-treating, the kids amassed an amazing amount of candy! But these are unusual children. They went through all their candy, and decided to only keep about 10 pieces each. They dumped the rest into two large bags that will be delivered to a dentist's office next week. Most kids collect candy to gorge on at Halloween. But our kids see Halloween as a money-making opportunity. (The dentist pays $1 per pound of candy.) At the last weighing, they were looking at a $15 gain!
