Tiny Little Rubber Bands Everywhere!

I know there are other living rooms across the country that look a lot like mine do these days.  They are covered with tiny, colored rubber bands!  My girls (mainly Emma) are absorbed in the latest trend--making Rainbow Loom bracelets.  Emma is making good use of our new ipad, looking up an endless stream of YouTube videos, with instructions for how to make all sorts of complicated designs.  Here are a few of her best so far.

And here's a cute little panda too!

She's already gone through several bags of these rubber bands, as her new obsession hobby has occupied much of her free time lately.  Both she and Ashlyn, along with many of their friends, are often seen wearing countless bracelets, stretching from their wrists to their elbows.  It's mildly reminiscent of my own childhood obsession hobby of collecting jelly bracelets.  (Some of you reading this know exactly what I'm referring to!)

Anywho, she's certainly learning perseverance as she tackles some of the more advanced designs and deals with the frustrations of breaking bands.  And it seems to be motivating her to get her school work done more quickly, as we have this little rule about not doing bracelets until school work is finished.  So for those reasons I say, have at it!  But just make sure the bands all get picked up before bed!
